Last Sunday, LRV Leopoldsburg organised the National LRV Pony Championships at Philippaerts We Live Horses in Oudsbergen. Next Sunday, the same venue will host the National LRV Rider Championships. "My children and I grew up in the LRV. I'm happy I could give something back," says Ludo.
Around 4,000 spectators came to watch young pony riders compete in their national championships. "We can look back on a successful event at a unique venue," says Tom Cools, president of LRV Leopoldsburg. "The grounds were in perfect condition, the cooperation with Ludo's team was excellent, the atmosphere was great and we welcomed around 4,000 spectators. Riders aged between seven and sixteen competed in several disciplines, including dressage, team dressage, show jumping and freestyle dressage to music. Competitions for riders with disabilities were also part of the program."
Ludo and the Philippaerts We Live Horses team supported the organising club. "I had a wonderful time in the LRV when I was younger," says Ludo. "My children and I all started our careers there. We grew up in the LRV, so I'm pleased to give them something back. I offered them our venue so they could organise their national championships here. "I think everyone was really enthusiastic. There was a great turnout, the weather was beautiful, and the atmosphere was fantastic. It was wonderful to see all those young riders competing and giving their very best."
Up to 6,000 spectators expected next Sunday
On Sunday, 4 October, the same venue will host the National LRV Rider Championships.
"We can expect another great event, this time for the senior riders," says Tom, president of LRV Leopoldsburg. "We expect between 5,000 and 6,000 visitors next Sunday. Together with the 4,000 spectators who joined us for the pony championships, we could welcome around 10,000 spectators across both weekends. That would be fantastic!"
