Nicola and H&M Chilli Willi set the tone for the Longines Global Champions League. They took home bronze in the opening leg of the season in Doha. They rode a double clear, but got beaten by Epaillard (Usual Suspect d'Auge) and Ben Maher (Explosion W).
Doha (Quatar) hosted the first out of 20 legs this season, with new stops added in New York, Stockholm and Montreal. Just like last year, the circuit culminates in the Global Champions Playoffs in Prague. Nicola and H&M Chilli Willi finished 3rd last year, and already made a fantastic start for this new season. They produced 2 amazing fluid rounds, but were just a little slower than Epaillard and Maher.
"Chilli Willi felt really great. Not only during the Grand Prix, but earlier today he also shined in the GCL Team Competition with the London Knights and placed 5th.”, says Nicola. “2019 started a little quiet for Chilli Willi, as I gave him some rest before starting the season in Oliva. He already felt really good then. During our first day in Doha he made a little mistake, but today he jumped incredible. The season is long but the horse is in good shape so hopefully we can keep producing results."
Nicola himself seems to be in great shape to. The day before, he triumphed winning the speed class with H&M Ikker.
