Nicola Philippaerts and his fellow European Championship riders — Gilles Thomas, Thibeau Spits, and Pieter Devos — were honoured last Tuesday evening for winning the European Team title. In the presence of Jo Brouns, Flemish Minister for Environment and Agriculture, not only the riders but also their families, grooms, and horse owners were warmly celebrated.

Around 500 equestrian fans gathered at the equestrian centre in Bonheiden, where the Belgian jumping team was recognised for this remarkable team achievement. In a relaxed and festive atmosphere, everyone looked back on a fantastic performance, and of course, the medal winners received a well-deserved tribute.

“It was a beautiful evening that we shared as a team with the people we care about — with everyone who loves the sport, and especially with all those who played a part in this achievement. This was only the second European Team title for our country, and that deserves to be celebrated,” said Nicola Philippaerts.

“But beyond the celebration, this evening was also the perfect moment to say thank you. For me, that includes everyone in our Philippaerts We Live Horses team — whether they’re on the road or at home — doing their very best each day to ensure everything runs smoothly for us and our horses, helping them perform at their peak. Katanga van het Dingeshof delivered once again at just the right moment. Being able to share this with her is thanks to the incredible support of the Lens and Adriaenssens families, and of course, our own. They’ve believed in us from the very beginning, and we do our best to repay that trust through our performances. Looking ahead, we want to keep Katanga fit and continue to manage her career with focus and care.”

While Katanga enjoys some well-deserved rest in Oudsbergen, Nicola will be competing in London in the coming days with Moya van de Bisschop and Qnokke de Muze.
