The very last hours before the World Equestrian Games are getting started. Katanga v/h Dingeshof and Nicola are ready for it!
He’s only 29 but will ride his second World Championship already, after Tryon in 2018. He explains how he and Katanga v/h Dingeshof prepared for this big championship. “Actually, I didn’t take Katanga to any competition after Aachen. We worked a lot at home, mostly dressage, to make sure she was fit to start.”, explains Nicola. “During the championships, we won’t do anything different than during other competitions. Trust is one of the most important things”, continues Nicola.
The ECCO FEI World Equestrian Games take place in Herning (Denmark) from Tuesday the 9th of August to Sunday the 14th. “A championship is aways very long and counts many days, so we’ll take it day by day, round by round, with a fresh focus every time again. The first round will be the hardest one for me, as she’ll be fresh as a daisy.” , says Nicola.
Jérome Guery (Quel Homme de Hus), Jos Verlooy (Igor) and Gregory Wathelet (Nevados S) complete the Belgian team. Niels Bruynseels (Delux van T&L) is reserve. “We have an excellent team, but we have to make it. We’ll all need to focus and stay in shape, day after day, round after round.”, concludes Nicola.
