A year that starts well, but in which Olivier, like many others, is forced to put on the brakes: an unexpected virus puts the world to a standstill.
Preparations for the year start in Oliva, followed by Göteborg Horse Show in Sweden with a view to qualifying for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Olivier's first big competition of the year went well straight away. He started the Göteborg Horse Show in second place with Cataleya 3. In the final qualifying round of the World Cup season, he finished fourth with H&M Legend of Love.
And then, at the very beginning of the season, Olivier already reaches his highlight of 2020 at opening leg of the Longines Global Tour in Doha. Together with Nicola, Olivier wins the first competition of the Longines Global Champions League for the London Knights. In both rounds, both stayed clear each time. It is the first time both brothers have won a competition together. And the first time ever two brothers (let alone twins) have won a prestigious competition together.
Then the covidial period dawns. The world goes into lockdown for a few months... a few months of training, training and more training at home. After three months, a new season finally starts in St.Tropez. Olivier immediately puts a patch on it with some top ten rankings and also grabs the silver medal with Cataleya 3 in the CSI4* 1.45m speed class.
On Belgian soil, Olivier captures victory in the Gold League Grand Prix and second place in the 1.50m Grand Prix of Opglabbeek.
After spending most of the summer in Belgium, he returned to southern St Tropez. And this climate is clearly doing the young man good too. Here he achieves third place with H&M Legend of Love in the 5* Grand Prix and third place with Le Blue Diamond van het Ruytserhof in the 4* 1.50m Grand Prix
Unfortunately, the covid virus also manages to throw a spanner in the works at the end of the year and Olivier is unable to end his year traditionally at Jumping Mechelen.
