On Saturday afternoon, 21 February, Johan Philippaerts passed away at the age of 55 after a long and courageous battle with illness, at the hospital in Genk. Johan was the youngest of five children. Following his active sporting career, he devoted himself to coaching young and talented riders, including his nephews Olivier, Nicola, Thibault, and Anthony.
