This Thursday, December 5, the Belgian passionate equestrian Christophe Ameeuw and auction house Arqana organize an exceptional auction together at the Cirque d’Hiver in Paris. It promises to be a unique event at a unique setting for a horse auction. A team of experts has been selected, under which Jos Lansink and Ludo Philippaerts.
Paris will showcase the future superstars of show jumping during the ‘Yearlings & Performers’ sale, coinciding with opening night of the legendary Longines Masters of Paris. The 51 year-old Christophe Ameeuw is the driving force behind the Longines Master Series. 22 years ago, the idyllic countryside of the village Ecaussinnes became the hometown for his Ecuries d'Ecaussinnes.
“I am passionate about horses. In 1997, I built my first stables and started trading. Now, in 2019, horses are still my passion and I’m engaged in the organization of the Longines Master Series with competitions in Hong Kong, Lausanne and this weekend in Paris”, says Christophe Ameeuw. “Our shared ambition with The Auction is to bring trade of show jumpers forward in the same way as the fine art sector was professionalized and like Arqana managed to do with the trade of racehorses. Our partner is not the least. Arqana is an established auction house, operating all over the world at the level of Christie’s and Sotheby’s. Arqana, who has a lot of experience trading racehorses, is the perfect partner for this auction. By leaving behind the general setting for a showjumping, I’ld like to make the auction more accessible for everyone and to attract a new network of people.Therefore, I chose the unique setting of the Cirque d’Hiver. A symbolic location in the heart of Paris, were fashion shows and concerts are organized as well. Very important is that the auction is organized at the best moment on the best location. You don’t buy a Picasso or Rembrand at any place neither. When you have an exceptional piece, you offer it at the right date in Hong Kong, New York, Dubai, Londen or Paris. The same goes for trading in the equestrian sector. The market for show jumpers requires accrued transparency and professionalism, and we’ld like to work on that. We want to organize a unique event where champions, with the best result, are offered for sale. We’ll present exceptional yearlings and top performers selected by our unique pool of experts Ludo Philippaerts, Jos Lansink, Virginie Couperie-Eiffel, Joris Debrabander and Carlos Pinto.
